The most devastating consequence of the traumatic brain injury I suffered 14,5 years ago, in my father’s opinion, was the fact that I had worked my whole life until then to open every door possible for my future – now each one of them slammed shut. This was devastating in my opinion as well, of course, but I tried to focus on opening all the doors I hadn’t even noticed before. It wasn’t easy. I delved into my rehabilitation, tried to turn every stone to find out what works for me, and after busting my ass for years… it still isn’t easy!
But it is possible.
Everything is harder for me alone, but as a species, we are not designed to thrive alone. Humanbeing is a social creature with the ability to work together and super power of learning new skills! A gigantic number of axons were now disconnected in my brain and connecting those up again… takes many repetitions and a long time, so I had to get started right away.
Now, after years of doing just that – rehabilitating and busting my ass in it – I’m still not OK. I’m not ready, except that, I kind of am.
Don’t get me wrong, I still want to rehabilitate myself and I know that I am able to push myself so much further, but now I can accept that this is my life now. I love this! Even though it’s really hard at times…
FightBack, the brand, was founded by me over 11 years ago. Back then all I wanted was to get ”back to the life without any restrictions”. Fighting against all the diagnoses and restrictions was all I wanted to do. I’ve been able to experience many things during these years and they’ve taught me A LOT! The most valuable thing I’ve found out is how little I know! I want to know more, though. I am curious.
There are a bunch of very important things in learning anything, but being curious is definitely one of the most important ones in my opinion. It’s like a hunger for new knowledge and skills!
You have to have a strong base upon which you build the new skills to move forward with. FightBack has been the guide for me in building that base. I want to move forward now. I want to spread the brand globally so that everyone in need could get the will needed to build the base for their selves base and move forward with me!
This is my dream and I’ve said it all before as well. We’re getting closer all the time.
